Engaging Men in the Quest for Greater Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion

On February 5, 2016 during the ABA Mid-Year Meeting in San Diego, Firm President and CEO, Sheryl L. Axelrod spoke on “Why Diver$ity Really Pays Off on the Bottom Line for Firm$ and Corporation$.” The conversation followed a panel discussion with diversity champions Alan Bryan, Senior Associate General Counsel, Legal Operations – Outside Counsel Management, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., Bill Sailer, SVP, Legal Counsel of Qualcomm, Tom Sager, Former GC of Dupont who is at Ballard Spahr, and Federal Judge Irma E. Gonzalez (Ret.) moderated by Malissia Clinton, Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary at The Aerospace Corporation. The event took place at the American Bar Association (ABA), National Conference of Women’s Bar Associations, and Lawyers Club of San Diego inaugural model program, “Why GOOD Guys* Are So Important.”

*GOOD Guys are Guys Overcoming Obstacles to Diversity.

The purpose of the program was to engage more GOOD Guys to become agents of positive change, and to have those already engaged in diversity efforts do more. Attorney Axelrod presented tips to create a more diverse and inclusive, merit-based profession, in addition to a toolkit to conduct their own GOOD Guys program.
