Axelrod Firm partner Lisa Savitt became chair of the ABA Section of International Law (the “Section”) in August 2015. With over 20,000 members, the Section of International Law brings together practitioners from around the world to network, learn, and help promote the rule of law.
As Chair of the American Bar Association Section of International Law, Ms. Savitt led a delegation on an International Legal Exchange trip to Turkey in May. The delegation included the President of the ABA, Judges and attorneys from the United States, and lawyers from Austria, Korea and Turkey. The delegation included a meeting with the Union of Turkish Bar Associations, the Istanbul Bar Association, Turkish lawyers and judges, law school deans and professors, members of the business community as well as representatives of the U.S. Embassy and Consulate General.
From May 29-31, 2016, the ABA Section of International Law held a Europe Forum in Rome, Italy. This was a 1½-day conference focusing on international legal issues. There were approximately 130 attendees representing many different countries from around the world. While in Italy, on behalf of the Section, Ms. Savitt signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Consiglio Nazionale Forense (National Bar Council of Italy) and also had the opportunity to visit the Avvocatura Generale dello Stato (the Advocate General for civil matters) with other Section leaders.
