Why does The Axelrod Firm request that its $1,000 scholarship funds be awarded to a Black law student, preferably a woman, interested in going into Commercial Litigation?
Because there are very few women, and far fewer people of color, handling Commercial Litigation cases and even fewer serving as Judges Pro Tempore, Settlement Masters, Discovery Masters, Receivers, and AAA Arbitrators in such matters. We would like to see that change. As big as bodily injury cases can get, large Commercial Litigation matters can dwarf them in size.
Commercial Litigation cases should not be handled virtually exclusively by white men, as they currently are. We seek to start a pipeline to increase the number of Black attorneys in the field. We call upon fellow law firms, and our attorney colleagues in the field, to heed our call to action and join us with their donations. Doing so will enhance our cache of talented Commercial Litigation attorneys and attorneys serving as Judges Pro Tempore, Settlement Masters, Discovery Masters, Receivers, and AAA Arbitrators in Commercial Litigation cases.
