The Axelrod Firm Engages Temple University Graduate Kaya Jones To Polish The Content of Sheryl Axelrod’s Upcoming Book!

Ms. Axelrod is completing a book in the equity, equality, diversity, and inclusion space.  As she searched for someone to polish its contents, she found the perfect person!

Kaya Jones graduated from the Klein College of Media and Communications with a double major in Political Science and Journalism.  She was a Dean’s List Scholar, on the National Society of Leadership and Success, an Asian & Pacific Islander Scholar, and served as Vice President of External Affairs of Temple University Student Government.

Last summer, Kaya took a pre-law pipeline program at the University of Houston for students who are first generation, low income, and/or members of groups historically underrepresented in the legal profession.

In addition to her distinguished academic achievements, Kaya has volunteered in the equity, equality, diversity, and inclusion space, including at:

  1. Angela Rye, Inc. and IMPACT Strategies where she served as a Policy Cohort Intern researching and writing briefs and memoranda on legislation and on hearings that impacted people of color and those with low incomes;
  2. The Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy, and Leadership, where she served as a Diversity Peer facilitating conversations around social justice and inclusion at Temple University; and
  3. The Office of State Representative Joanna McClinton where she served as a Legislative Intern performing legislative research, providing constituent service support, coordinating press releases, and assisting with event planning.

Ms. Axelrod met Kaya when the two spoke to students in Girls, Inc. about leadership.  Girls, Inc. works in partnership with schools and at Girls, Inc. centers, inspiring girls to be strong, smart, and bold.  Ms. Axelrod was impressed by Kaya’s intelligence, excitement and advice about leadership, and organizational skills.  Kaya showed the girls her thick notebook in which she has her dreams written down and inspirational quotes to help her achieve them.

Kaya is working with The Axelrod Firm on the completion of the book, which is expected to come out in print and online by 2021.  We’ll keep you posted!
