Ms. Axelrod launched the first ever TLAA Admission Ceremony and Reception.

At this unique ceremony, Temple Law graduates are sworn-in as new members of the Pennsylvania Bar. This free event is held in the beautiful Ceremonial Courtroom of City Hall before the Dean and members of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, with the graduates’ loved ones in attendance.  A reception is held afterwards complete with wine and hors d’oeuvres.

All of Ms. Axelrod’s Work with the Temple Law Alumni Association

Sheryl Axelrod served for nearly two decades on the Temple Law Alumni Association.

  • During her tenure with the Temple Law Alumni Association (TLAA), Ms. Axelrod rose to be unanimously elected President of TLAA, the fourth woman to hold the post in its nearly 100-year history.
  • During her term as TLAA President, in addition to overseeing the TLAA regular event schedule which involves hosting award ceremonies, networking events, sporting events, panel presentations, and running all TLAA Executive Committee meetings, she:
    • Founded the TLAA Women’s Initiative;
      • Co-Chaired the TLAA Women’s Initiative and continued to do so throughout its first three years;
      • Created the TLAA Women’s Champion Award and its award criteria;
      • Launched the TLAA Diversity Committee;
      • Created the TLAA Diversity Leadership Award and its award criteria;
      • Installed women into every open TLAA officer position during her term as president virtually ensuring it would not take another 100 years for 4 women to serve as TLAA presidents.
  • By the time she had become TLAA President, Ms. Axelrod had:
    • Launched the first ever, and now annual, TLAA Admission Ceremony and Reception;
          • At this unique ceremony, Temple Law graduates are sworn-in as new members of the Pennsylvania Bar. This free event is held in the beautiful Ceremonial Courtroom of City Hall before the Dean and members of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, with the graduates’ loved ones in attendance.  A reception is held afterwards complete with wine and hors d’oeuvres.  
      • Organized a special cooking class for Temple Law graduates at La Cucina. 
      • Hosted Law Day in which classrooms of children go into courtrooms. Each get a private audience with a judge who tells them about litigation and answers their questions;
      • Organized numerous Continuing Legal Education (CLE) classes and Happy Hours for Temple Law alumni; and
      • Served as TLAA Vice President and President-Elect.
  • In 2015, after her term as President of TLAA and after her three years as Co-Chair of the TLAA Women’s Initiative, Ms. Axelrod was awarded the TLAA Women’s Champion Award.
